ADA Leaders Attend HIA Annual Meeting

ADA leaders attended the Hearing Industries Association (HIA) Annual Meeting in Washington D.C, on March 16, 2017.

Representative Erik Paulsen (R-MN) kicked off the program with a hearty welcome and a discussion of the importance of the hearing industries contributions to hearing health. Other featured speakers included Dr Daniel Blazer, chair of the National Academies of Sciences hearing initiativeDr. James Battey, director of the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), and Dr. Srinivas Nandkumar of the US Food & Drug Administration, as well as members and consultants to HIA.

Presentations were largely focused on public policy issues related to increasing the numbers of people with hearing loss in the United States who will benefit from the use of hearing aids. In addition to the informative presentations, ADA also had the opportunity to connect with allied organizations and stakeholders to discuss issues of mutual interest and opportunities to advance common goals.
