ADA Sets Fundraising Record at AuDacity 2017, Raising $89,000 for the Audiology Patient Choice Act

The Academy of Doctors of Audiology held their annual member’s meeting this past week during AuDacity 2017. Our members heard an update from ADA President Dr. Angela Morris on the efforts to advance H.R. 2276, The Audiology Patient Choice Act, and responded by setting a new fundraising record. ADA members in attendance raised over $89,000 in support of ADA’s advocacy efforts in less than 30 minutes (bringing the total advocacy fund donations to well over $100,000). While some members renewed their support through their generous yearly contributions a large percentage of the funds raised came from first-time donors.

While these numbers are encouraging ADA stills needs your help for our advocacy fund. Our budget for each year of this effort is still $150,000, a number that pales in comparison to the $10 million that optometrists needed to achieve LLP status, and we are just over $50k short of our goal. However there is light at the end of the tunnel. If every audiologist gave a $100 one time donation we would retire our fundraising goal immediately. As members of ADA leadership reiterated at the member meeting it is important to have “buy-in” from our efforts and demonstrate our commitment to passing this legislation.
