Interventional Audiology: Product Dependence - Is It Co-Opting Our Efforts to Become Limited Licensed Providers?

Audiologists are not running out of patients anytime soon and we have excelled at achieving recognition for hearing and balance care. Yet, we seem mired in our focus on product sales which is contrary to the requisites of limited licensed practitioners who diagnose, manage, and treat patients. The device has taken 'center stage' making differentiation from retail sales occupations difficult. This session will discuss the outcomes from the ADA Work Group on Alternative Practice Models and include presentations and discussions among audiologists who are implementing strategies to assure the continued existence and sustainability of their practices.
