On July 15, 2025, [ADA notified members](https://www.audiologist.org/resources/communicate/latest-news/new-cpt-hearing-aid-service-codes-a-cause-for-concern) about the newly announced CPT hearing aid service codes, shepherded and promoted by the [American Academy of Audiology](https://www.audiology.org/proposed-medicare-fee-schedule-introduces-new-codes-for-hearing-device-services/?utm_source=Advertising+List&utm_campaign=0d0285800f-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2025_07_07_02_04_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-9a8894a717-289658584) and the [American Speech-Language-Hearing Association](https://www.asha.org/news/2025/proposed-medicare-fee-schedule-introduces-new-codes-for-hearing-device-services?utm_source=Advertising+List&utm_campaign=0d0285800f-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2025_07_07_02_04_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-9a8894a717-289658584) and voiced concerns about the codes and the process and timeline for their implementation. Our advocacy has resulted in action.

On July 21, 2023, ADA received a [joint letter from AAA and ASHA](https://mcusercontent.com/59d85b4d8bff8b5eb5cebbd43/files/adf9a05b-41a8-2610-1c5e-57dd81ac269f/AAA_ASHA_Response_to_ADA_on_Hearing_Device_Services_Codes_7_21_25_002_.pdf)[ ](https://mcusercontent.com/59d85b4d8bff8b5eb5cebbd43/files/adf9a05b-41a8-2610-1c5e-57dd81ac269f/AAA_ASHA_Response_to_ADA_on_Hearing_Device_Services_Codes_7_21_25_002_.pdf) regarding the concerns that ADA had justifiably raised. Read the AAA/ASHA letter addressed to ADA here.

Today, ADA responded to AAA and ASHA to ensure that ongoing discourse on this important issue is principled, transparent, and fact-based. [ADA’s response letter ](https://mcusercontent.com/59d85b4d8bff8b5eb5cebbd43/files/0f860a17-e3b9-4d9c-6f9e-03bb78bf45fe/ADA_Response_to_AAA_and_ASHA_07232025.pdf)includes questions for AAA and ASHA about the new CPT code set, and a request for timely information that can be used to develop actionable guidance for audiologists.

ADA reimbursement experts are already putting together a series of resources for ADA members. ADA will hold a special three-hour workshop on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at [AuDacity](https://www.audiologist.org/events/audacity/audacity-agenda#agenda), to discuss preliminary findings and recommendations. ADA is also planning webinars, articles and FAQs to assist members in preparing for the changes ahead. Stay tuned for more information.
