Patient self-report measures are essential clinical tools for identifying perceived communication difficulties, functional limitations, and patient-centered treatment needs that may not be captured by traditional audiologic testing. This course provides a practical, clinically focused approach to administering, scoring, interpreting, and integrating the RHHI, APHAB, VFS, and EmpAQ-5 and other measures into routine audiologic care. Participants will learn how these measures can complement behavioral test results, support treatment planning, establish outcome measures, and facilitate targeted counseling and shared clinical decision-making.
Attendees will be able to:
- Select and administer appropriate patient self-report measures (RHHI, APHAB, VFS, and EmpAQ-5) based on patient presentation, clinical question, and point in the care pathway.
- Score and interpret results from these measures, including identifying clinically meaningful findings and explaining where self-reported difficulties agree or disagree with behavioral test results.
- Apply self-report data to build individualized treatment plans, set baseline and post-intervention outcome measures, and guide targeted counseling and shared decision-making with patients.
